Summary
An ebonised, polychrome painted and gilt heightened open display shelf or bookcase, English, circa 1840. Profusely decorated overall with floral garlands and scrolling foliage, the shelves and panels centred with large floral sprays, two of the shelves now re-positioned to be back-boards which enables the decoration to be seen better, the top tier with three-quarter gallery, the posts with urn finials and side lattice panels, standing on a plinth base.
Provenance
Part of the Hussey collection. The contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 2006 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hussey.
