Summary
A rosewood, brass-mounted and marble chiffonier, English, circa 1820-1840. The stepped top with green and white variegated marble slabs, the lower two with brass galleries, the centre section raised on brass scroll spandrels and open section with mirror-back flanked by pedestals with cupboard doors containing needlework panels, each between marble columns with gilt-metal capitals, standing on a plinth base.
Provenance
Part of the Hussey collection. The contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 2006 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hussey. Introduced into the collection at Scotney by Christopher and Elizabeth Hussey in 1952, bringing it with them from Hampshire.
