Summary
A rosewood, parcel-gilt and brass-inlaid centre or breakfast table, English, circa 1810. The rounded rectangular tip-up top inlaid with brass border strips alternating with satinwood crossbanding around the corners, raised on a simulated rosewood and stylised foliate-clasped column and socle, the concave-sided platform base crossbanded in satinwood and standing on parcel gilt scroll feet with sunken castors, gilding now rubbed.
Provenance
Part of the Hussey collection. The contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 2006 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hussey. Introduced into the collection at Scotney by Christopher and Elizabeth Hussey in 1952, bringing it with them from Hampshire.
