Summary
Pencil on paper, Study for crosses and hands in 'The Resurrection of the Soldiers' by Sir Stanley Spencer, CBE, RA (Cookham 1891– Cliveden 1959). Inscribed, top, 'Crosses, End Wall Burghclere?'. This sketch focuses on a vignette at the bottom left of the Resurrection altarpiece (the outline of the door is visible in the drawing), in which soldiers, amongst the cluster of crosses, grasp hands in an act of reconciliation.
