Summary
Middle Eastern corner chair, late 19th century, with two dense rows of turned spindles in the two rectangular back panels set at right angles; Moorish arches below the seat incorporating Arabic script and groups of three turned spindles in the spandrels; square section uprights, on turned feet; top rail inlaid with geometrical pattern in ebony, mother-of-pearl and bone; seat upholstered and loosely covered with wool floral embroidery on canvas. Similar to Moorish furniture imported from Cairo by Messrs Rottmann, Strome & Co in the 1880s.
