Designed for maximum visual impact, giant teapots like this were often made as showpieces for the windows of a china shop, drawing attention to a normal sized tea-set of the same pattern. Although awkward to use as a teapot, it may have been used more often for serving punch with a ladle.

Large blue and white Staffordshire punch pot shaped as a teapot. Decorated with transfer prints showing 18c landscape scenes. Bulbous body narrow at base. handle, spout and rim around the top decorated with transfer prints of flowers.
