Full description
One of a pair of flintlock pistols of short form, Liege c1820, unsigned. Octagonal iron barrel of Damascus twist construction, slightly swamped at the muzzle, the breech stamped with Liege proof marks and decorated with gold damascene. Blade fore-sight. Retained to the stock by 1 barrel slide. Wooden ramrod with horn tip. Barrel length 15cm. Calibre 12mm. Walnut full-stock, the acutely curved grip carved to represent fish-scales, the pommel with beaded and faceted carving. Foliate carving behind the barrel tang. Engraved iron furniture comprising; faceted buttcap, 2 small side-plates, trigger guard with decorative vase-shaped finial and 1 pierced ramrod pipe. Silver barrel-slide escutcheons. Engraved flintlock of flat form. The frizzen with an anti-friction roller. Retained to the stock by 2 side-nails. . Overall length: 28cm
