Percussion pepperbox revolver, c1850, by Esau Akrile, Beverley, Yorkshire (recorded 1833-58). Iron barrel cluster with 6 chambers bored from a single block of iron, with fluted longditudal ribs between, each breech inset with a percussion nipple. Barrel length 6.5cm. Calibre 8.5mm. Iron frame containing the double-action bar-hammer lockand having a bell-shaped nipple guard. The frame foliate engraved and signed E. ARKILE, BEVERLEY. Curved iron trigger and guard. Walnut 2-piece chequered grip with central screw fixing. Overall length: 21cm
