Summary
A family tree of Barclays Bank Limited from 1650-1920. 'Chart of the Origins of Barclays Bank Limited'. Starts with Gosling & Sharpe, London 1650, includes Barclays, Bevan, Tritton, Ransom, Bouvverie & Co, London & Brighton 1888 and Gurneys, Birkbeck, Barclay and Buxton; Gurney & Co, Norwich 1774, and Gurneys, Peckover & Co, Wisbech 1754; and then details the various independent banks which were amalgamated into Barclays & Company Limited in 1896 and further acquisitions from 1897-1920 and the name change to Barclays Bank Limited in 1917; also overseas branches - British Linen bank, Barclays Trust Coy of Canada, Barclays Bank (Canada), Barclays Bank (dominion, Colonial & Overseas), Barclays Bank (France) Ltd, Barclays Bank (SAI Rome). Made up of 4 sheets of paper sellotaped together, with a border including a coat of arms with a black spread eagle at the top, and a series of inn signs in the Lombard Street area: The Three Crowns, The Black Spread Eagle, The Three Squirrels, The Bible, The Black Horse, The Ram, The Three Kings, The Rose and Crown, The Golden Ball and The Blue Bell.
