Poole's gentleman's pocket memorandum book by Alexander Peckover, 1848. Occasional diary entries and almost weekly accounts of interest. Jan 6 "am to enter the bank this day week", Jan 7 "began Leonidas, Jan 8 " Daniel Gurney came", Jan 13 "entered the bank today", Jan 31 "settled signature (and he practices!), Jan 30 " Papa offered to bind Ethts unis for me" opposite account page "Binding R.C.Atlas 1.4.6", Feb 21 "took over to be bound", Feb 20 "riots about loca Montez", Feb 24-29 items about "French revolution - Louis Philippe abdicated, etc". April 20 "Hand artwork at bank" April 22 "long days work" Nov 30 "settlement g&co gave me £100". Very important diary as it is AP's earliest one the National Trust has. Also year he started at the bank. There is also a list of country bankers in the front almanac - some have been crossed out. Maroon leather cover. Front flap extends to back and tucks under flap. Sticker "AP, 1, 1848" on front. "Alex Peckover, Jan 1848" inside. Gitl edged pages. Inside cover torn from spine but otherwise in good condition. Box 17A CSAS: Alex 340
