Summary
A grand piano by C. Bechstein. 20th-century. The rosewood case of standard shape with a bevelled top, the plain sides with simple D moulding at base. On three turned legs with octagonal centres, the rounded sections grained to match the rosewood veneer. The pedals on two turned and fluted supports with a moulded base. The keyboard with an ogee-shaped cover, inside a fretted rosewood music stand. Inside is a relief medallion 'Schmutt Mark C. Bechstein' with lion holding a cartouche with 'CB'. Plaque 'C. Bechstein, Hof-Lief. Sr. Maj. d. Kaisers u.Konigs Berlin'. Label inside 'Manufactured Expressly for Holder Brothers Limited, Hull, Grimsby and Bridlington'.

Given to the National Trust in 1998 by Miss Childs.
