Alexander, Lord Peckover was an avid collector and the Cabinet of Curiosities is testament to his many travels throughout Europe and North Africa. All of the Peckovers were great travellers and many of their journeys are recorded in the diaries and watercolour albums we hold in our archive collection.
Summary
Cabinet of Curiosities. A Victorian period figural burr walnut cabinet enclosing 8 drawers behind two doors, with a display tray on top covered by hinged lid. The plain walnut top of rectangular form with rounded front corners, hinged to reveal a red baize-lined interior with contents. Under the top an overhanging cove-shaped cornice with a frieze below. The front with a pair of arched top inset panel doors of raised moulded outline, opening to reveal eight drawers with contents. Circa 1860.
