Caption
Alexander, Lord Peckover was an avid collector and the Cabinet of Curiosities is testament to his many travels throughout Europe and North Africa. All of the Peckover’s were great travellers and many of their journeys are recorded in the diaries and watercolour albums we hold in our archive collection.
Summary
Ebonised round frame, unglazed, with round brass hanging loop. Containing pierced paperwork circle fixed around a watercolour scene of a lady writing inscribed with homily 'Tho' absent in person, yet present in mind'. George III.
Provenance
Created by Alexander, Lord Peckover, in the mid 19th-century and passed down through the family. Loaned to the National Trust by the Antony Penrose Collection.
