Caption
Alexander, Lord Peckover was an avid collector and the Cabinet of Curiosities is testament to his many travels throughout Europe and North Africa. All of the Peckover’s were great travellers and many of their journeys are recorded in the diaries and watercolour albums we hold in our archive collection.
Summary
Pincushion. victorian stitched silk cube-shaped pincushion giving the effect of 4 cubes stitched together with 9 small pins inserted into each side of each cube. Paper label attached and inscribed in ink 'From Aunt W Alexander 1843, K E Peckover 1864'.
Provenance
Created by Alexander, Lord Peckover, in the mid 19th-century and passed down through the family. Loaned to the National Trust by the Antony Penrose Collection.
