Summary
A pair of beaded ebonised beech, brass studded and ceramic stools, English, circa 1860 Of circular form, one with beaded upholstery with a central posy of flowers within an anthemion and scroll quatrefoil design. The other with a central posy of flowers within an octagonal flower head design The moulded ebonised frame with brass studs. Raised on gadrooned ceramic feet. These two stools are thought to have belonged to the Peckover family. Beadwork, much the same as embroidery, was an acceptable female occupation. These are thought to have been produced by one of Alexander Peckover's sisters.
