Summary
Travel journal, brown leather half-binding with linen cloth, gilt-embossed on spine 'A Tour in South Wales, 1858' with watercolour illustrations produced by Susanna, Priscilla Hannah and Jonathan Peckover, 1858. Produced for their Uncle William. Inscribed on flyleaf in blue biro 'J.M. Wilkinson, given me by Grandad 1944, rebound 1949'. 156 pages and index. Fly-sheets protecting each watercolour. Watermark 'A. Cowan & Son'. Manuscript description of places in the form of 12 letters to 'Dear Friends' by either Susanna Peckover, Priscilla Hannah Peckover or Jonathan Peckover. Illustrated title page with inscription in ink 'William Peckover from his Affectionate S P H J P' with pencil annotations '30/7/58 - 25/8/1858'. Several pages embellished with small ink sketches stuck onto pages. Some pages appear to have been removed but the numbering of the pages is consecutive.
