Summary
Drop down counter and doorcase in the east wall of the Servants' Staircase and Lobby. Behind the door in the south west corner of the Eating Room is a drop down counter in the lobby used by the serving staff bringing food to the Eating Room. The doorcase is timber lined, but not panelled. Parts of the door frame are modern, replacement sections and these are included in this record. The hinged mahogany counter is supported on a timber batten on the west side of the doorcase. There is a corresponding batten on the east side of the doorcase. The counter is held upright by a substantial wooden latch.
