Summary
Panelling (including dado rail and skirting board) on the north wall of the Steward's Room. The dark varnished panelling dates to the 19th century refurbishment of the room. There is a mix of wide and narrow panels above and below the dado rail. The bottom section of the skirting board is a replacement. There is a single panel above the fireplace. Two panels (above and below the dado rail) in the north east corner of the room are doors for two concealed cupboards. The door to the large upper cupboard has three hinges and the lower door two hinges. There are three shelves in the upper and one shelf in the lower cupboard. On the left-hand side of the fireplace there is an old (late 19th - early 20th century?) electrical socket (two pin socket, round pins) set in white Bakelite? with a metal surround set into a wooden fitting. There are a variety of circular holes in the panels at socket level where other sockets may have been fitted.
