Obverse, engraved on the ivory tab 'Funus Sine Imaginibus and Pompa, / Per Saudes and memoriam Virtutum ejus Celebre fuit.' On the reverse, a paper label pasted 'Duke of Bedford, in 1804 / Copy by Wright after Hoppner' below in pencil 'Balcony. C. 8. 1914'/ The seond inscription may be its hanging location at Middleton Park, Oxon.
