Summary
One of three green silk damask festoon blinds from the late 19th century. The green silk damask has a fabric width of 151cm (probable selvedge width 152.2cm/60”) with a large-scale foliate design (vertical repeat 183cm /72”). The damask panel is composed of one full width and two part widths which have been machine seamed together. The lining is of pale green wool sateen and the blind has a cotton domette interlining. The Panel is gathered at the heading. The side trimmings have a braid heading of tan colour silk chenille, tipped with cream silk, with a silk zigzag loop edge fringe with wool tassels at the outer edge (W:60mm). The lower edge trimming has a heading with a geometric symmetrical zigzag design in contrasting cream silk and a tan colour silk chenille yarn and matching zigzag loop edge fringe and drops consisting of cream looped silk pompoms, each with two silk floss-covered, pear-shaped hangers (W:72mm). The blind has three pulley tapes with guide rings, hem weights and pulley cords, creating two full swags when raised and ruched.
