Summary
Marble bust of Sarah Frederica Child-Villiers, Princess Esterházy von Galántha (1822-1853) by Lawrence MacDonald (1799 -1878). Signed and dated at rear. Her head turned slightly to her right, shoulders bare. Mounted on turned marble socle, supported by a marble pedestal. This bust is a second version of the 1845 bust of Princess Esterházy.
Provenance
Purchased from George Child-Villiers, 9th Earl of Jersey (1910-1998) by HM Government in 1949 for the Nation and vested in the Victoria and Albert Museum; transferred to the National Trust in 2002.
