Summary
One of a pair of mahogany arm or elbow chairs. Square back with serpentine top upholstered in buttoned crimson leather, edged with a moulded gilt brass bead decorated with a foliage motif. Arms upholstered with leather similarly edged in fluted scroll forms with a patera at each side and supported by fluted curved uprights. The square seat is upholstered and edged similarly to the back. The seat-rail has vertical fluted decorations at the front and sides, terminating in circular patera at each corner. Front legs circular, fluted, ending in round feet with lotus decoration. Back legs square, fluted on front and outside edges, and having square feet. The leather is thought to be late ninteenth century with an aniline dye. OST/F/27 a in Upper Store
