Summary
Flotation cells for fine separation of barytes ore. Receives barytes rich material from the Rough barytes flotation cells (NT/FC027). Passes more concentrated solution to the Denver vertical disc filter (NT/FC029). Three wooden flotation cells, with agitators inside. Agitator impellors are circular with toothed circumference and made of a plastic material. Cells are of wooden construction. The first two are connected by a plastic pipe. The third was originally fed with the concentrate laden foam skimmed from the top of the first two by the paddles but latterly this third cell has been bypassed, the concentrate from the first two cells going directly to Level 3 (although the pipes are no longer connected). Each agitator driven by a separate electric motor via three V belts. Third motor also drives paddles via a single V belt gearbox and further belt to pulley on end of paddle shaft. Mounted on concrete base. Sparging pipe formed of square section tube. Wooden troughs collect foam. Agitator mountings numbered 4, 5 and 6. It would appear that the drive and agitator components for this machine and the fine zinc flotation cells (NT/FC023) have been obtained by cutting in half the mechanism for a battery of six cells.
