Summary
Jaw crusher manufactured by H.R. Marsden Ltd of Leeds. This broke the ore down into smaller pieces by means of a pair of alternately closing steel jaws. Ore was fed in via the scalping screen (NT/FC004). The crushed ore fell onto a conveyor (NT/FC007) beneath the floor. The heavily built crusher is bolted to the concrete floor and sits on rubber pads. Driven by electric motor (NT/FC006) via twin rubber V belts. The Heritage Engineering assessment claims that some belts are missing but examination of wear on drive pulley on crusher suggests that there have always been just the two belts.
