Full description
Raymond Russell (1922-1964) was the younger son of Gilbert and Maud Russell who purchased Motttisfont Abbey in 1934. Maud Russell's diary for 9 May,1931 includes, "Take Raymond to see Dobson", making him around 9 years old when the bust was made (information provided by Emily Russell).
Provenance
Commissioned by Maud Russell, 1926-27 and donated to the University of Edinburgh in 1964. Item on loan to the National Trust from the University of Edinburgh.
