Summary
One of a pair of Regency revival footstools c 1930’s made up of a square pine box frame with dark gold chenille covering to the sides, 4 gilt bronze paw and wing feet, 2 gilt bronze rosette handles, the top is a needlework panel worked in cross stitch with wool and silk threads, depicting the Russell family coat of arms including shield, supporters, crest and motto and has a gold braid surround. The stool is webbed and stuffed with horsehair and has a rough hessian dust cover to the base. Pasted inside is a white paper label with “Mrs Gilbert Russell” inscribed in ink. Upholstery not original.
