Summary
A pastel head and shoulders sketch of Martin Russell as a child June 1920 with a white card mount with gilt and water colour lines in a beaded gilt frame. On the reverse a pasted label inscribed by Maud Russell reads “Martin Russell by Neville Lytton 1920 M.R.” and a framers label “Chapman Bros 241 Kings Road Chelsea …”
Provenance
Presumably commissioned by Maud and GIlbert Russell in 1920 and by descent to Martin Russell. Gifted to the National Trust by Laura Beresford, Julian Russell and Emily Russell in November 2018.
