Summary
Wood, one of eight carved figures by William Silver Frith associated with Cliveden to top the newel posts on the staircase. This example shows Jack Sheppard. He occupies the topmost newel post. This sculpture has no date as he never lived at Cliveden, but was rumoured to have hidden in the caves in the Cliffside at Cliveden while a fugitive.
