Summary
Lay light in the centre of the ceiling of the stairwell, formed of a flat ferrous framework held together with machine screws, light comes from a skylight above. Flat section has an internal layer of leaded glass painted with a stylised floral design, dry mounted in the ferrous frames above the leaded panels are pieces of rolled plate which act as a diffusing layer, the central pendant has curved white translucent glass held in a brass framework , the central piece of glass has translucent kiln fired enamel.

Presented to the National Trust, with the house and grounds, by Waldorf, 2nd Viscount Astor (1879-1952) in 1942.
