Summary
East Fernery south elevation gate, west leaf. Panel 14: Gate Upper Panel: There is a central depiction of a plinth and stand in flat bar to give a 2-dimensional view. Radiating from the centre is a variety of fishtail snub-end scroll work shaped to incorporate repousse leaves and water leaved flowers. Periodically the scrollwork culminates at its end with a decorative flower with curled stamen to carry on the flowing theme. Swat balls are used throughout as spacers and intermittent decorative features. Lower Panel: This panel is diagonally quartered using square bar with a spear end. Forged collars hold the radiating decoration of geometrically spaced fishtail snub-end scrollwork which once again is patterned to incorporate repousse leaves accompanied by water leaves and a repousse flower radiating from the central stem. Water leaved flowers are used to connect the scrollwork at the inner end of the central stem and a repousse flower is used to bridge the gap at the outer edge of the frame. There is also a repousse decoration on the lock and a scrolled decoration at the top of the panel.
