Summary
Sounding Chamber south elevation gate, west leaf. Panel 9: Gate The focal point of this gate is a large opulent repousse flower in full bloom (Peony?) with a repeating pattern of several types of scroll radiating from it. Although the pattern of scroll work and the accompanying water leaves and flowers is regular, the type of scroll ends seems to be random. The types of scroll are: Ribbon-end, Fishtail-end, Fishtail snub-end, Ha’penny snub-end and Bolt-end. Some of the scrolls are also of a more elliptical shape than the usual circular aspect. Collars are used along with flowers to join the scrollwork being both large and small.
