Summary
West Fernery west elevation grille. Panel 1: Grille Arched top section: Central cast iron vase sitting on a double WI shadow rail, on top of a scrollwork pedestal with fishtail snub-ended scrolls, leading to water leaved pendant with flower swag. Fishtail snub-ended double running scrollwork, with large acanthus leaves and chain of forged pressed spheres. Fishtail snub-ended scrolls with waterleaves, around forged central stigma and geometric forged corners. Central Rosette Flower swag Next section down: Heart-shaped collared ribbon-ended ‘S’ scrolls with forged double-ended horizontal spears. Next section down: Hollow spun WI spindles with forged water leaved central embellishment Middle: The center embellishment consists of a strip of embossed semi-spheres pressed and shaped from pure iron sheet. Bottom section: Repeated pattern of 4 ribbon-ended scrolls fixed with collars and screws to form quatrefoils, fixed to square frame with 90-degree half-lap joints.
