Summary
A dark brown painted wooden baby carriage (or invalid carriage) with a red painted trim. It has a black painted fabric folding hood lined with a green-brown wool which has several moth holes. The front edge of the hood is trimmed with a brown braid decorated with a circular motif. The body of the carriage is attached to the sprung metal chassis with three adjustable brown leather straps. There are two metal axles attached to the chassis, each supporting a pair of metal spoked wheels. The front wheels are inset and are smaller than the rear. Each wheel has a solid black rubber tyre. Attached to each side of the baby carriage above the rear wheels is a shaped black leather mud guard. The metal hand rail has a cream plastic sleeve. The seat and internal sides of the baby carriage are upholstered with brown leather or imitation leather. The front edge of the seat is very badly decayed and the black horse hair stuffing is falling out and sitting in the wooden foot well. The grey plastic or vinyl floor covering for the foot well is largely missing and the remainder is lifting and badly cracked. There are a pair of brown leather restraining straps on either side of the seat. Marked 'Leveson. London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds'.
