Summary
A pair of lanterns, in ormolu and blue, lacquered in neo-classical style consisting of central fluted gilt column supporting eight branch chandeliers, adapted for electric light, each with two satyrs at the junction of column and chandelier, the whole enclosed by a cylindrical glass framed lantern attached by four brackets with swags to the column, the lantern topped with four pairs of trumpets in wreaths, the side frames with lacquered quivers terminated in winged putti heads, the top and bottom bands to the lantern with gilded floral designs. They are 19th century replicas/versions of the famous Thomire porch lanterns, which were designed for the Petit Trianon in 1783. These may have been designed by Allard.
