Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings - miscellaneous items of interest to the family. A newspaper cutting from THE TIMES 22 JUNE 1939 Over a large number of the population this was due to economic causes; to poverty or the fear of poverty; the burden on the ordinary working-class income by the arrival of any large family. He had heard the saying: "What is the use of trying to keep the wolf from the door when the stork keeps on flying in through the window?" There was also the burden on mothers; the question of what parents considered to be the best for the children they already had; the housing question; the sacrifice of enjoyments; and the fear of war.
