Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings - miscellaneous items of interest to the family. A newspaper cutting from THE TIMES 16 DECEMBER 1938 Headed: COAL COMPENSATION ADVICE TO OWNERS OF SMALL PLOTS Under the provision of the Coal Act, 1938, dealing with unification of coal ownership in the Coal Commission, anyone having an interest in coal for which he wishes to claim compensation must apply to the Commission for registration of it before the end of June, 1939; and in order to be able to claim reimbursement of the costs properly incurred in effecting registration before January 1. It is hoped that people who have a legitimate claim to compensation will not miss their opportunity of claiming it through ignorance of these requirements. Although, owing to the passing of the Coal (Registration of Ownership) Act in July, 1937, there has already been a period of some 15 months during which to apply for registration, there may still be some people, perhaps owners of small plots, who have not yet realized the position. Inquiries should be addressed to the Registrar at the Coal Commission, Hobart House, Grosvenor Place, S.W.1.
Provenance
