Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings - miscellaneous items of interest to the family. A newspaper cutting from THE TIMES FRIDAY OCTOBER 21 1938 A letter with a picture of a cart headed: OLD FARM WAGONS A LINCOLNSHIRE CART OF 1826 TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMES Sir,--- What is the oldest working farm wagon in the country? The accompanying photograph shows a Lincolnshire veteran bearing the date 1826. It has probably been in constant use every year since that date, and I helped to load it this August at Tothby Manor, Linc, where it has been for many years. Having been made prior to 1830 the wagon would probably qualify for admission to the United States duty free as an antique, on account of its educational value. ............................................ Yours faithfully, G. W. WHITEMAN, Editor, The Antique Collector. 5, West Harding Street, E.C.4.
