MANAGER UNSEATED ON PETITION FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT NEWTON ABBOTT, FEB. 19 After a hearing lasting four days, the Buckfastleigh election petition inquiry concluded to-day, when the Commissioner, Mr. H. H. Maddocks, declared void the Devon County Council election for Buckfastleigh Division held last March. Major Stansfield Vickers, the unsuccessful candidate, alleged illegal practices, including the hiring of two taxicabs and illegal employment of six Cooperative Wholesale Society employees by Mr. William James Chaffe, justice of the peace and manager of the society's mills at Buckfastleigh, who won the election by 826 votes to 459.
