Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings - miscellaneous items of interest to the family. A newspaper cutting from THE TIMES DECEMBER 21 1934 Caption above: Points from Letters THE TOY THEATRE Far from the toy theatres having gone the way of Troy and the Strand maypole, I have been filling my spare time for the better part of six months in building, and equipping with electric light, dimmers, and all the rest of it, one of the very theatres which Mr. Wills so poignantly laments in your columns of December 18. I take a great risk in writing to you about it, for should you print my letter, your paper will have to be hidden from my children lest they learn my secret too soon. But I beg you to print it, nevertheless, for, believe me, and I write out of memory of boyhood refreshed by recently recovered joy, these theatres are delightful indeed, their proscenium is a splash of glory, their plays rich with the aura of the stage of our great-grandfathers, and, even if they are not in the toy shops, they can be bought. A letter to B. Pollock (who has been making them for 50 years), at 73, Hoxton Street, Hoxton, will bring a catalogue which is itself an earnest of joy.---The Rev. R. A. EDWARDS, Wisborough Vicarage, Billingshurst, Sussex. .
