Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings - miscellaneous items of interest to the family. Newspaper cutting headed The Prize Letter. SHOULD GIRLS PROPOSE? The prize of £2 2s. for the best letter received during the week is awarded to Miss M. Flintoff, Carburton Manor, Ollerton, Newark, for the following:- DEAR MR. EDITOR,--- This is one of the great home questions of the day and one which affects every young man and woman. In my opinion before asking a girl to marry him a man likes to be in a position to offer her a decent home, and very often a girl would not understand and would not take into consideration those financial circumstances. A girl, again, gets fits of emotion and cannot suppress her feelings like a man. So, if she suddenly found she was in love and the privilege was hers, she would propose, perhaps with disastrous results when she realized her love was merely a passing fancy. .........................................
