Summary
1 of 128 Newspaper Cuttings; Subject - Windmills (plus a few watermills and a dovecote). A newspaper cutting taken from 'THE TIMES TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19 1950' newspaper. The page has a large black and white photograph of a windmill with a house in the foreground titled PRESERVING A SUFFOLK MILL. Caption underneath; Steps are being taken to preserve Holton St. Peter mill (above), near Halesworth, the last remaining post-mill in this district of Suffolk. The owner, Colonel T. S. Irwin, and the people of Holton have issued an appeal, which may be linked with that of the East Suffolk County Council, for carrying out essential external repairs to the eighteenth-century mill. The interior is in fairly good order, although the mill has not been in use for about 50 years.
