A newspaper cutting of a picture of a windmill from THE NOTTINGHAM EVENING POST, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1958 Caption above: Jill, The Windmill, In Splints Caption underneath: Seen here in splints is Jill, one of the famous pair of windmills which stand above the village of Clayton, Sussex, and dominate the South Downs. In the background is her companion windmill, Jack. Jill has been handed over to the local district council at Cuckfield and is now being renovated and repaired. Built about 150 years ago, the two mills are a landmark for people approaching Brighton from the Sussex Weald.
