Summary
1 of 128 Newspaper Cuttings; Subject - Windmills (plus a few watermills and a dovecote). A newspaper cutting of a landscape picture of a windmill from THE SUNDAY TIMES MAGAZINE SECTION SEPTEMBER 28, 1958. Caption above; A FACE-LIFT FOR JILL ON THE SOUTH DOWNS Caption below: "Jill" one of the pair of Clayton Windmills on the South Downs known as "Jack and Jill," was last week handed over to the Cuckfield Rural District Council by its owner. The old windmill is so well-loved a landmark that, on his recent tour of the Middle East, Mr. Henry Longhurst was greeted in no fewer than seven different places, not as golf correspondent of THE SUNDAY TIMES, but as owner of "Jill." The windmill, built in 1831 and moved to the present site from Brighton, is now being redecorated. 'FREDERICK WORGER'
