Caption above; The Mill That Won't Die, Written below the picture:- Defiance to the storms of the centuries, to the changing needs of mankind keeps this ancient windmill standing- and still serving a good purpose- at Lytham, Lancashire. Photographed through the lychgate of St. John's Parish Church, the mill is reputed to be on the oldest windmill site in Britain. It was built in 1762 and since grinding corn has been successively a teahouse, the headquarters of the Ribble Cruising Club, and for a time Britain's most unusual electricity sub-station. Currently, it is being used as a temporary store for deckchairs.
