One of a series of newspaper cuttings from various positions in Endcliffe Villa, all pertaining to Local History - other than Worksop. An article on a local novelist published in the Worksop Guardian on 20th February 1959. 'A Little-Known Edwinstowe Novelist How "Villa Real" Derived Its Name by E.T. Half a mile to the south-west of Edwinstowe lies a little estate known as "Villa Real", and the origin of this Latin sounding title has frequently been a source of curiosity, not only to residents of the "Dukeries", but for much of the surrounding countryside. As a matter of fact, the property takes its name from a bye-gone owner, then known as William Villa Real, who purchased the farm and ajoining land in the earlier half of the eighteenth cen- .tury and who married Elizabeth Halifax of Mansfield, ...'.
