Summary
One of a series of newspaper cuttings from various positions in Endcliffe Villa, all pertaining to Local History - other than Worksop. An article from the Worksop Guardian of 14th March 1919 concerning the village of Langold, 'LANGOLD A FORSAKEN ELYSIUM "The glory is departed." Over the portals of how many of our old country mansions might this be fitly written. The town, grown to the dignity of a city, has stretched out its long, un- lovely tentacles, and extended its factories beyond the borders, and then the tenant, has fled affrighted to find elsewhere the vanished freshness and se- clusion. Or it may be situated "far from the maddening crowd." ...'
