Letter published in The Times on 12th April, 1951; 'TITHE MAPS AND RECORDS TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMES TITHE MAPS AND RECORDS Sir - May I reassure Mr Iwi and any reader who may have been disturbed by his letter which appeared in THE TIMES of yesterday? The Tithe Act, 1936 (Amendment), Bill does not seek in any way to modify the law regard- ing the local (diocesan and parish) copies of tithe maps and records (technically instruments of opportunity); it deals only with the custody of the original documents, which are not and never have been kept locally....
