Summary
Greetings Card - Valentine verse. Front: A winged man sits in each top corner a hand held out towards the middle under which sits the words 'The Sacred Vow A GIFT BY ROBERT SHAW.' A stylized black and white border sits around the printed verse with two matching vignettes at the bottom of two birds and stylized leaves and flowers with a black line border. At the very bottom the words 'R Whewell, Printer, Bolton. Verse: Within the border the verse reads 'Entreat me not to leave thee, Nor too return from following thee; The thought, alas1 doth grieve me, For where should I so happy be? i'll go where'er thou goes, However hard thy fate should be! And any grief thou knowest, I shall a sharer be with thee! Thy people also shall be mine - Thy home shall be my loved abode; I'll worship at thy sainted shrine; Thy God shall aslo be my God! And where thou diest I will die, And there shall I be buried too; If aught but death part thee and I, May worse than death the act pursue.'
