Summary
One of a set of mismatched cigarette cards wrapped in a piece of newspaper. Cigarette card; full colour image on the front of a haddock running diagonally across the card from the bottom left corner to the top right with a blue grey background depicting the sea. in the top left corner a circle with light blue background in the centre of which is a mussel, 'Mussel' is printed beneath, In the bottom right corner printed in black 'WILLS'S CIGARETTES.'. On the reverse of the card printed in blue on a white background; 'FISH & BAIT 42 WILLS's CIGARETTES The Haddock (Gadus aeglexnus). A fish which resembles the whiting in shape, but grows to a considerably greater size. Examples have been recorded of haddock weighing 20 lb. or more, but the usual run would be up to about 3 lb. They usually swim in big shoals, and are most plenty- ful, perhaps, on the eastern coasts. they are voracious fish, and will take mussels, lugworms, or a piece of fish, or indeed, most baits.
