Rug: Carpet - Axminster carpet, of Persian design, scarlet ground with large lotus and flowering stems, in rose-red border with meandering plants.
Provenance
Pictured in the Dining Room at Stourhead (now the Saloon) in a photograph dated June 1900 (732423). Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
